Ukraine says it captured Russian military intelligence hit squad
Ukraine's security service SBU said on Wednesday it had captured a Russian military intelligence hit squad responsible for the attempted murder of a Ukrainian military spy in the run-up to a presidential election on Sunday.The issue of how to deal with Russia, which annexed Crimea in 2014 and backs pro-Russian separatists in eastern Ukraine, is prominent ahead of the vote, with incumbent Petro Poroshenko casting himself as the commander-in-chief Ukraine needs to defend the country.
Vasyl Hrytsak, the head of the SBU, the main intelligence agency, told a news conference in Kiev that seven members of the Russian group had been detained and charged and that an eighth person had been detained on Wednesday morning.
Two of the group's members were Russian citizens, said Anatoly Matios, Ukraine's military prosecutor, describing them as staff officers of Russia's GRU military intelligence agency. The other six were Ukrainians.
There was no immediate reaction from Russia's GRU.
The SBU has reported before that it captured groups belonging to Russian special agencies.
"Those detained were involved in the attempted murder of an employee of the Ukrainian defense ministry's intelligence service...in Kiev in April," said Matios, adding the group had planted a bomb beneath the man's car which had gone off prematurely, badly injuring one of the accused.
The SBU released a video of the same incident which showed a man placing the bomb under a car before a big explosion. The video showed a man lying in a hospital bed with part of his right arm missing saying he was Russian and born in Moscow.

Certainly Lebanon deserves much respect for standing up to these inhuman Imperialist bastards. I hope that others will as well. In the short term, RuF. must do all it can by making sure that Syria is supplied via Black Sea tankers, freighters, ect. RuF. must not tolerate this strangling snake strategy employed against Syria which is the hallmark of The AZE. Longer term, RuF, and others must take back all oil producing areas in Syria. To hell with the Kurds already, these pieces of stateless garbage want to have Israel part 2 in region. They must be either subjugated or be out of the equation. RuF. has had the time to make Syria a porcupine of anti air defense to keep The AZE off their backs. Lebanon wants Russian help, give it to them I say. Then have advanced anti ship missiles off of Lebanon coast. Work on getting Turkey and Egypt on board. The main reason for my wish to change this society is that so many human skills have no chance to come to fruition. Instead they are used in a really sick way so that people are maintaining their own suffering from wars, hunger and illness. But it can not be changed "top-down", only in some kind of "grassroots revolution" or better "evolution" where more and more people work together to get rid of TPTB (whoever that is).
No need for a "big event" but development. One of my ideas to reach it: Don't play "their" games - don't use "their" rules - don't think in the box of "their" paradigms.
It's more "refuse" than "resist" - without too much ideology. You don't need to know much about "what's going on behind the curtains", it's mainly to create your own rules together with like-minded people.
That is what I mean with "I'm on the side of the people".
