The EU generally seems to be moving away from US and starting to fight for its interests while ignoring US directives (Iran deal, Nord-2). A glimpse of sanity but I don't think the EU and its Bruxelles bureaucrats have guts to enter full confrontation. But if thew would, it would be step in right direction - no matter what.

The EU generally seems to be moving away from US and starting to fight for its interests while ignoring US directives (Iran deal, Nord-2). In that sense Trump movement just like Russia was and is indeed supposed to be sort of inspiration.But Trump is not going after MAGA, but after MIGA..And Russia is proving to be in this generation side you can simply trust.No backdoor agenda.
So even states as Hungary or Slovakia, ZOD's Czech Republic who are to not too keen on Russia per se are recognising that fact.Then you have Austria , Slovenia, Italy who are also joining that pragmatic view...Dutch are just around the corner..we are simply traditionally trying not to get too much involved,, but..remember Ukraine referendum..Yup that is what we think.

I agree with you, the EU is actually decaying, falling apart, crumbling because it is rotten inside, especially "old Europe". In order to preserve some sort of union, EU must reform heavily, and become community of sovereign, independent states.

But even in its current state, EU seems to be moving away from the US.. seems is the bottom line. For how will it continue to defy its US "overlords", that is honestly only question imho

At least Germany cannot move away from the US. There are too many US troops on German territory. In case a German government (maybe AfD right wing) will ask the US to withdraw completely, US would just laugh about it and reinstate the old occupation.
